RiffTrax Riffs a Game PromoRiffTrax riffed some cut scenes from a video game called “Gears of War 3.” I wasn’t able to watch it on the IGN site (don’t know whether it was their site or my connection, but it wouldn’t play). But here it is.

Just a minor correction. It’s not IGN’s Gears of War 3. It’s Epic’s Gears of War 3. IGN is just the gaming news site the video was published on.

So…they ran out of geek-movies to pants in the locker room, so now they’re heckling a Halo game?
Hasn’t personal agenda pretty much taken over by this point? :(

Another correction – Dom wasn’t on the helicopter when Cole got off to say goodbye to – he was still on the boat :D

EricJ we know that Halo is your only way to interact with people besides the Internet, but the job of Mike, Kevin and Bill is to make fun of movies, and video games today are like interactive movies, with those ambitious openings, cut scenes and endings, even famous people are the voice actors of video game characters. So, it’s completely okay to the Rifftrax guys to riff on this. Don’t worry EricJ, one of these days you will understand how Life works.

Also, you should know that since the Mst3k days, they have been making gaming related jokes, from Tv’s Frank playing Mario to that Parapa the Rapper poster in Track of the Moon Beast, the Doom jokes in Escape 2000 and the Doom challenge against Mike in the Mst3k convention.

Just to let anyone who’s into this kinda stuff know, the comedy group Loading Ready Run does videogame-cutscene-riffing every week at http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/unskippable

Yes, EricJ, your personal agenda has pretty much taken over by this point. Merry Christmas!! :-))

The good thing about MST3K is that has apawned other people doing riffs, like Incognito Cinema Warriors, the Iriffs people, the Spoony Riff theater, several riff videos in That Guy with the Glasses, the people from Something Awful with their riffs on Let’s Play; of course, not everythng is in the same tier as the Three Ones (RT, CT and MST3K)but at least people are trying and expanding their wits, trying to find something funny to say about movies, shorts and cut scenes to amuse us. Somebody some day should analize why we like riffing so much.

Don’t forget that this isn’t the first time Mike, Kevin, and Bill riffed on video games, they also did that Playstation video back during the sci fi years

Not only has EricJ’s personal agenda of paranoid hatred taken over all of his posts at this point, he also apparently does not realize that this is not a Halo game.
Halo is not the only first-person shooter on the market, EricJ. Gears of War is just one of many which are not Halo. It’s considerably less popular than Halo, also, as I recall. I haven’t played it, but it may be a good choice for riffing, since I’ve heard that the series is kind of contrived and pretentious at times.
Rather like you in that regard.
I can see why you’d dislike it when Mike and co. tease geeks for being obsessive, whiny, neurotic, and thin-sklinned. From your perspective, it’s like they’re insulting you personally.

Oh, EricJ – I KNEW you wouldn’t disappoint me by not making snide comments about Mike! When I saw that the guys had a new riff available I thought “I’ll bet our EricJ has something to say about this.” I didn’t even have to scroll – you were number 2. Awwww!! Thank you for being SO consistent in your snarkiness and having nothing better to do with your time than troll the boards looking for opportunities to be snarky towards Mike and the crew. :)

I bet their riffing on the Metal Gear Solid series would be AMAZING. With some of the cutscenes and codec conversations being up to an hour long and some releases having the games as just plain movies (MGS1 let you play all the movies and codecs and MGS3 Subsistence came with a DVD of the game’s story without gameplay), it’d be perfect riffing fodder.

It looks like a highlight reel, is there perchance an unedited version anywhere?
