SIFF Cinema and People’s Republic of Komedy present Ed Wood’s “Plan 9 From Outer Space” with commentary by Dana Gould (“The Simpsons”), Frank Conniff and Trace Beaulieu of Cinematic Titanic and MST3K.
Edward D. Wood Jr’s legendary “so bad it’s good classic” is back on the big screen. Plan 9 From Outer Space is a notorious bit of 1950?s science fiction/horror exploitation that is just begging for the comedy treatment, and SIFF has teamed up with The People’s Republic of Komedy to provide just that—with three hilarious guest commentators. Dana Gould is a comedian, writer onThe Simpsons, and personal friend of the late Maila Nurmi (aka Vampira). Frank Conniff and Trace Beaulieu are living legends known for their work onCinematic Titanic and Mystery Science Theatre 3000. Together they will guide you through this confounding, enticing, ridiculous and exciting tale of grave robbers…from outer space! At the Uptown Theater near Seattle Center. $15 | $10 SIFF Members | $14 Seniors (65+) and Youth (20 and under).
I wish SIFF would record it. I would love to attend, but I live on the East Coast.

It would be interesting to put side-by-side-by-side this commentary, the Mike solo rifftrax commentary and the full Mike-Bill-Kevin rifftrax commentary. I wonder how much overlap there would be…

Rifftrax already did this. They should riff GLEN OR GLENDA, just for something different.

This should be funny. It would be nice if someone did record it and put it out on dvd.Or maybe have part of it as an extra on an upcoming box set…When Mike did it by himself and then with Kevin and Bill, they used the same jokes in parts of the movie, which I couldn’t understand why they did.Bit of a letdown actually..

@3: I can only how many jokes they can get out of “pull the string!”

A riff would be cool, but according to CT’s facebook page, this isn’t a riff. Too bad :( Still, it should be entertaining!

I thought the RT version was hilarious!

Riff or not, I’d still like to see it. Let’s hope someone does have a camera there (though I’d prefer it was an “official” recording rather than a fan taping).

I really hope somebody smuggles an audio recorder into this and then shares the results with the interwebs.

It’s Dec 8. It took some hunting to find it on the SIFF site. I’ll be going.

I got the idea of using the best riffs from this and the Rifftrax version to make the ultimate plan 9 riff track, or at very least, riff script. I don’t care who’s doing what anymore, I just hope for funny and quality recordings. How ’bout it, nerds?

This should be recorded for the sake of prosperity. The creative folks involved would be foolish if they didn’t.
