I sure hope these VOD titles come out on DVD. I’ll snatch them all up the second they do.

Simple to burn. Easy to download. And a comfortable price.

    I certainly don’t need a DVD release.

Keep ’em coming, Rifftrax. This VOD expansion has been a most welcome development.

Oh, and riff GYMKATA already! Sheesh.

I watched it last night. This one’s a keeper! The movie is awesome. It appears that Hercules’ sons are even more stupid than their old man. This movie actually steals the scene from “Hercules” where the Jason vanquishes the dragon protecting the golden fleece. The movie is ripe for riffing and Mike, Kevin & Bill were in rare form on this one. If you like the old MSTs, download this one. As I said, it’s a keeper.

Yes but a factory pressed DVD still beats a home burned DVD in playing on more machines and has a longer shelf life in general.

I just found out that I actually own this movie. It’s part of a 50-disc “Sci-Fi Classics” set I picked up a few months ago at Best Buy. There’s a bunch of original MST3K, Cinematic Titanic, and even Rifftrax (including “Laser Mission”,) on there. I think I’ll watch this version before the other one. I don’t want to go into a catatonic state.

Ok, maybe I zoned out. Is the pudgy Jon Lovitz guy also one of the titular sons? If so, Hercules may want to have a talk with the milkman or something… I love the sword and sandal movie riffs, btw. Keep ’em coming!

Oh, and since MK&B didn’t say it, I will: “Pizza, pizza!”

Maybe this is a dumb idea… I too prefer buying the “real” DVD when given a choice, but I would love to have a digital copy too when I purchased one.

Alas, even in this day and age, a lot of people don’t have the bandwidth to download a DVD. Sure, I could manage the compressed video and watch it on my computer. But a 4 gig download? Nope.

@7 I have that dvd set- Is the movie title the same? I wanted to do a quick imdb/amazon search and I could not find a film with this EXACT title. Does it have any other names?

If the DVD-R fails, just burn a new one! Unlike “premade” DVDs that may fail and if they do you’re SOL (and I don’t mean the MST SOL). I’m looking at you, WB, and your “sorry, you didn’t buy your Contact DVD direct from our online store so that deteroriated DVD is useless and won’t be replaced”.
Plus I can stick them in my own slim cases that take less space than the pro cases. My shelf of RT DVDs is running out of space!

Add another person who likes the inclusion of the .iso file along side the VOD and riff audio files.

With the .iso file, not only can I make a DVD copy to include in my CD “binder” of MST3K episodes, but also I can make a copy for my older brother that I can give to him for Xmas.

    @12,

No, it’s the same name. That’s how I noticed it. I didn’t watch the original one, and I’m glad I didn’t. There is no way I could survive that without Rifftrax.

Yup, we have that same PD box with this movie in it and I’ve never ever been able to get through the movie — it’s just a mess.

Which means it’s perfect for Mike, Kevin & Bill, of course.

This one’s so bad you can add it to the list of “time stoppers” — movies that seem to last forever. 2 viewings over 2 nights and we’re only 1 hour into it! I’d swear we watched 3-5 hours, at least.

Lots for the guys to riff on and they go at it just like old times….

    Some fun facts, courtesy Wikipedia:

The Sons of Hercules was a syndicated Embassy Pictures television show that aired in the United States of America in the 1960s. The series repackaged 14 Italian sword-and-sandal films by giving them a standardized theme song for the opening and closing titles, as well as a standard introductory narration attempting to relate the lead character in each film to the Greek demigod Hercules. These films however were not all originally made as “Hercules” films in Italy. Although two of them did originally feature Hercules (and not his sons, strangely enough), four of the films were originally Maciste movies in Italy, two of them were originally Ursus movies, and the other six were just isolated gladiator or mythological hero movies that the American distributors didn’t feel deserved a full-blown theatrical release in the USA.
