I’m in the midst of my second viewing of TC3: The Wasp Woman. I am afraid that the subtle charms of CT continue to elude me.

This one was a little better in the beginning, but the Board Meeting through things off track, and the Buddy Rich thing killed it entirely. The jokes are better ( or I am dialing into them better ) but the delivery is stiff… the lack of exuberance I’ve whined about before.

Oh, and no riffs on Bruno VeSota ? Every one of those people has BVS seared into their brains, and not a mention. It is intellectually and comedically dishonest.

I think Joel and Josh are reasonably funny. Trace is not as strong as he should be… he may be coming out of his shell, maybe working without a character is constraining him. Frank and MJ don’t add a lot ( sorry guys, charming and effective comic actors absolutely. rapier sharp riffers, not so much ).

The whole time I keep thinking how much fun this would be on MST3K ( either Joel or Mike ).

There is some good stuff. Left turn on to Ugly Street, Guinea Pigs shooting up, Pipe-Smoking Note-Taking etc. but it’s still not working for me.

And I wish it was. As always, Sorry.

The review from Cinema Fromage was annoying. It seemed like it was written by a five year old, written for five year olds. I just couldn’t take the review seriously.

What was wrong with the Cinema Fromage review?

I agree with Matt D. Reading that review made me angry. It’s poorly written and filled with typographical and grammatical errors. If you can’t even be bothered to spell Joel’s name right, you shouldn’t publish.

I totally disagree with Petite. CT is off to a great start. I laughed throughout the entire film. I also think that MJ and Frank add a lot to the team, both in writing and delivery.

Also keep in mind, in the past, each new incarnation (i.e. MST Season 1, Mikes 1st episodes, and Sci Fi) things started out rough and always got better.

Wasp Woman is every bit as good as any MST Corman episode.

That said, I can’t wait for the next episode.

    #5 Krasner ( love that name )

That’s what’s driving me crazy…. People seem to genuinely enjoy CT, and the reviews are positive, and I guess the product is moving. And that’s great for them and great for the viewing public. I don’t want them to fail, I LIKE them. I WANT to laugh.

I feel like I’m the only one ( or maybe part of tiny little group ) not in on the joke. And the more I watch it the less I like it. Sigh…..

The DVD Talk review sounds like it was written by that guy who gave Mike and Mary Jo a hard time on SF Vortex show many years ago.

And to suggest they were too hard on Manos simply bakes my noodle!

WASP WOMAN just wasn’t a strong movie to riff on. CT is great, but they need movies with a little more to work with.

Did anyone notice that they completely overlooked The Film Crew while talking about other riff shows?

Anyway, at least these reviews were constructive (if ANY review can actually be that!).
