I’ve ceased buying the individual downloads for these often delightful shorts because I’ve become to annoyed with how alert I get when it seems like the short is wrapping up and I automatically anticipate that VERY LOUD guitar so that I reflexively jump up to click past it before it hits. I guess I’ll be better off waiting for this one to someday make it to a DVD collection. I know the music for Rifftrax would be so much better if Kevin, Mike, and Bill had to listen to it every time they finished a recording session just like we hear it after every short and movie. But hey, if they paid for that opening and closing stuff you can’t blame em for wanting to use it. Funny how it’s the exact opposite of the way I never tire of that classic ending theme for MST3K. I always let that one go ahead on.

It’s a small point, and unlike CJN I wouldn’t cease buying the shorts because of it, but I agree. That final guitar bit is so loud and glaring and out-of-place. It really is hard on the ears.

#1,#2,#4: That is one of the reasons why I do my own audio mixing of the shorts with the original source and riff files. I just silence that whole end bit.
Funny short, btw.

The funny thing is that I significantly lower the volume on that end note already. I’ll see what else I can do as I had no idea there was such a big problem with that tag at the end.

@Casey – I did notice the guitar rift is a little lower on the volume scale. I think I speak for a lot of people when I say this – A lot of us listen to Rifftrax at a slightly higher volume. It’s actually a common action because when sound overlaps (riffing versus screen dialog) people have a tendency to turn up the volume so they don’t miss anything. The MST3K end music was different because it was a synth song with a slight build to it. The Rifftrax stinger music is a guitar chord. It’s sort of the difference of listening to 80 dB of wind chimes and 80 dB of a shotgun going off. I personally love Rifftrax and buy everything you guys make, but it is a major pain when the movie is winding down and you all of a sudden realize you need to scramble for the remote lest you get an earful of electric guitar and an overpowering voice. I realize there is a need to “stamp” your product and also provide info on Rifftrax to those watching for the first time, but it’s akin to the Carl Casper’s Car Show commercials of the 80’s. After the 100th time of hearing someone shout “Friday, Friday, Friday!!!!” at you, then you sort of want to kill them (and Rebecca Black as well but for other reasons).
Again, love Rifftrax and keep up the great work!

That makes a lot of sense actually…I’m a low-mid volume level person. It’s loud when I’m editing, of course, but for actual pleasure viewing I’m a quiet person. Check out the next short that we release for a change in the end audio.

Thanks for hearing us out, Casey. I know I’ll be first online to purchase the next new Rifftrax short when it rolls in, with a refreshed sense of excitement for this new and improved ending. With all the crazy going-ons in this mixed-up meshuggeneh world today, it’s comforting to know someone out there still cares. I think I might enjoy now what may be my first real sleep since before the war started.

Casey, thank you for taking the time to respond on these board. I know it’s hard to keep checking the threads and answering questions, so your dedication and attentiveness is another reason why I’m a solid Rifftrax fan (as well as a Casey fan too).
