As they seem to do every time a Transformers movie comes out, Entertainment Weekly’s website has a list of the Top 21 Hotshot Movie Robots”, and look who’s in at #13.
Also, Hellnotes.com is out with what I think is the first review (though it’s kind of general) of the upcoming “MST3K vs. Gamera” set from Shout.
Drat, I was hoping to get a review copy of the set to preview for The Midnight Cheese. I wish the reviewer went into a little more detail on the special feature, but all in all it sounds like a friggin’ awesome set and I can’t wait!

A slight shame on EW for not mentioning that Mike may have been their “Human Custodian” but Joel was their creator.
I always hate not getting “the rest of the story”. ;-)

There will be a more detailed review in the not too distant future actually…
I can tell you that I loved what I saw so far

Everytime Entertainment Weekly (and TV Guide, USA Today and other, similar pointless publications) mentions MST3K, it feels like the writer/editor/list compiler is doing so because they know it has a huge cult following and feel that it should be mentioned, but really have never seen more than a few minutes of the show. At least they correctly identified Tom as the gumball machine.
@ Stressfactor: To play devil’s advocate, the list is about movie robots, and Mike was the human in The Movie. My own personal niggling: I would argue that neither the Destroyer nor Robocop are robots, but it’s a stupid article anyway.

A Cinematic Titanic DVD Review? HOW TIMELY.
Pass.

Ryan, the point of that “timely” review was mostly for the benefit of non-regular viewers. It was also there to set up the whole mentioning of the live tour. Additionally, I didn’t want the article to be ENTIRELY RiffTrax-based: I wanted those non-regular readers to know that both Mike AND Joel have their own ventures (you have to constantly remind the general public, else they forget in a flash).
Might I suggest you actually try reading the article next time before passing judgment? ;)
Cheers,
Luigi
