On my laptop, when Netflix shrinks the viewing pane during the end credits (which I hate), I just click on the shrunken viewing pane and it returns to full-screen size.

While browsing a local movie theater’s schedule (the iPic in NYC if you’re curious), I noticed screenings of “MST3K: The Return” on Friday 4/14 and Saturday 4/15. I take it this won’t be the only theater showing (presumably) 1101 on premiere weekend. Has there been any announcement of this yet, or is this one of those secret show deals?

Just got my backer info about streaming the first episode Sunday morning and I’m SO excited.
The wife, daughter and I used to watch new episodes every Sunday morning (after taping them the night before) over a pancake breakfast, and while our daughter is now grown with kids of her own my DW and I will be re-creating this this Sunday, albeit with a slightly more adult theme of Mimosa and (wait for it) WAFFLES!! Lots and lots of waffles!
Never thought I’d live long enough to see this (well, I might still not. I’m pretty old).

I’m fortunate to work at a 911 center and we’re allowed to use our time between calls to read or watch TV and I was able to watch experiment 1101 as soon as it hit. No spoilers I promise, but I’ll say that as a 36 year old who’s been a fan since I was 12 and has a half sleeve tattoo of the show I don’t think I could have been happier with everyone’s efforts. Lets hope enough people will watch it on Netflix to get a season 12.

My apologies to about 10 people who posted spoilers here. You will have to repost in the spoiler space thread. Again, my apologies.

I wish everyone involved with the MST3K revival well.
I have to save my limited funds for Rifftrax.
I’ll watch whatever clips of the reboot I can.
In the meantime, let’s try to get along here.
Let’s keep circulating the good vibes. :)

Wow, remember when that countdown clock was at like 60 days? And now the day count is ZERO, BABY!!!!!!!! Only 17 hours and 20 minutes until new MST3K is unleashed upon the world!

Viewing party planned for tomorrow evening, woo hoo!

I thought only a good egg-salad recipe could cause that!

Here’s a link to an interview with Mike, Kevin, and Bill where they speak about Rifftrax, live shows, “Samurai Cop” and (ahem) the MST3K reboot.

Did anyone else have their name left out of the credits? It was in the master list but not in the episode :(

OH! Pacific time… well… look at how nude I am, until then :D

Check each episode. 1101 had names starting with A (including mine) and a few B’s, so they’ll probably be divided among the 14 episodes.

Why’s the countdown thingy increasing now?

I believe it was put best in DUNE (1984):
PAUL MUAD’DIB: Stilgar, do we have movie sign?
STILGAR (smiling): Usul, we have movie sign the likes of which even God has never seen!
(Okay, maybe I’m paraphrasing a little…)

Some Thoughts:
– My God, I never thought this show would ever happen again.
– Why does the door sequence put me in mind of T2?
– So weird watching MST3k and having no idea which dude is saying which riff.
– I enjoyed Felicia Day in Buffy as a Slayerette. Haven’t seen her in much since but I’m positive I’m about to undergo a Felicia Day Love Renaissance, effective immediately.
– Max.

Also, did these guys just completely obliterate the Riffing Land Speed Record or what?

I just checked the master list and and compared it to the credits. It looks like there are 12 names skipped starting right before mine and ending with mine. The name after mine on the master list does show. I am pretty disappointed because clearly they are not going to go back and re-edit the credits to add my name and I don’t care if it appears in the box set since I don’t want that anyway (I chose the mystery gift). I am probably way more bothered by this than I should be, but I am bothered quite a bit.

Good start, good cast, good movie to open with, loved Erin (ALWAYS LOVED Erin) and Will, and I have to agree with Atorgo (223), I could not tell one voice from another.
Maybe in time, but that should have been a priority.
Great riffs with solid laughs, though it seemed they played with the volume at the start of the movie. That was mildly annoying.
One question, why the commercial breaks with show cards ? Do they plan on showing this somewhere on the air ? I understood the fade to black, but almost a “We’ll be right back . .” break.
Now, on to the Second episode.

Some of the longer names on the master list appear on the final episode, so that might be why they are “missing.”

I just finished watching the new series first episode, and I’ll admit, I’m relieved. I was worried remaking a classic would ruin it- blame the movie industry for that concern- but I was actually pleasantly surprised. I can definitely see Joel’s style & influence from the old MST3K shaping the new series, and I’m surprised at how much I missed it. The human characters take a little getting used to for a diehard fan, but every alteration in show feels that way- always has, because you’re used to the old- but I have to say the choices for the robot voices were good ones (I laughed when I realized I was shocked that Gypsy finally got a female voice- I was so used to hearing a man do it that I’d forgotten how it sounded). The model work must have been fun for Joel, because you really see the bigger budget there- but for me, the key element was the riffing & thank god that was as good as I’d hoped (I always wanted to see Reptilicus riffed, too). Overall, very strong start for the new series. Very good.

Well, my name has 10 letters so I doubt it was moved to the credits for 1114 (although I checked). The eleven names in front of mine are also a max of 12 letters each. They didn’t move us to the end, they left us off. I went to the master list and compared and there is a gap of 12 names left off. In the grand scheme of things, not a big deal, but it’s nice to know that they can have 20,000 names on there including classics like ‘Dr J’ and ‘Scudmonger’ and leave off mine.

Why is it so f**king difficult to find a movie list? Even the Netflix queue only has synopses, not titles. Is it some kind of state secret what movies they’re riffing?

@230 Zillamon51–funny, I was just looking for that myself, people were posting them two weeks ago but now that it’s officially out, nothing?

I think they made the commercial breaks in anticipation of the possibility that it could be shown on network TV eventually. Also, I personally find them old-school interesting (the voice even reminds me of the old Penn Jillette voiceover breaks) and a good place to pause the movie to go get a snack or whatever. I hate pausing a movie mid-riff and having to rewind it a few seconds when I get back. Just my opinion.

1102 is an instant classic. All of minor issues I had with the first episode were smoothed out and it felt more natural.

Loving the new season big time..reminds a lot of the old show and ICWXP a little bit..You can tell a lot of love and passion went into the making of this as well as the riffs.Jonah is worthy of that jumpsuit like Mike and Joel before him..Hope we get a season 12..would be nice!! Thanks Joel and the rest..(what is this “and the rest” crap?)

They kind of want you to find out alongside Jonah and the Bots. For fun.

Knowing what the movie is before the show starts ruins everything. That’s why MST3K got cancelled in the first place, people kept finding out what the movie was going to be ahead of time & that spoiled it so nobody watched.
Er, nnnno, going by a lot of theories, I’m pretty sure that’s NOT the reason why it was cancelled. (Or the reason why “nobody” was watching…)
Joel only requested ahead of time that the movies not be spoiled as a courtesy, but those who snuck a look at the list back when it was posted a few pages back could look at the title-free early fan reviews on the now-deleted Kickstarter-preview thread and guess which ones 1101-1106 were (with a little help from IMDb), now that the list was pretty much confirmed to be correct.

Yeah, srsly, @Sampo, when is season 11 going to be listed on the episode guide here? I’m not expecting that we’ll have full host segment summaries and notes like all the other eps right away, but at least the movie names and the Wikipedia summaries would open up comments threads.

(Correction: Now that the official list has been unlocked on Netflix’s page,https://www.netflix.com/title/80128275 it appears that the list was incorrect re the one it was unsure of–
Seems the Hercules of 1108 will NOT be Lou Ferrigno’s 80’s version, which is good, since Starcrash had the whole Luigi Cozzi/Lewis Coates territory covered anyway.
Too bad, I was looking forward to the “Costumes by Ms. Grundy’s 4th grade drama class!” riffs on the Zeus & Hera scenes in Ferrigno’s movie, but the Mansfield one’s more classic riffing territory in the old Steve Reeves ballpark.)

Bad Thing: I have to get used to the new voices. And. . .Am I the only one who feels put-off (or maybe too old) that Jonah & The Bots seem to be talking fast? (I mean Jerry Bruckheimer editing fast.)
GOOD THINGS: It’s good to see Joel got some REAL money for production. I LOVE the door sequence. (Indeed I want my next apartment to BE the Door Sequence.)
And The New Dr. Forrester is kinda HOT.
FAVORITE RIFF: “I crap countries bigger than yours.”
HONORABLE MENTION: “I licked him, he’s mine.”

boy, people really don’t have any patience anymore, do they?
(not that i’m one to talk, but i’m also pretty indifferent to this revival so i’m not personally invested in whether sampo puts up an episode listing right away instead of, you know, living his life and taking his time like a normal person would)

I like that the movies are presented in “LIQUID TECHNOLOGY” I think it’s a reference to ‘METALOCALYPSE’ when the DETHCLOK recorded an album on water.

Thought Rollerball pioneered liquid technology long before that: https://youtu.be/qmTWhvWgST0?t=3m12s
Just so long as it isn’t ADD-friendly Peter Griffin/Family Guy fast (“Yeah….Joinus……Bitemeitsfun…..YoudoitImbitter (falls over)“), which is a worry when we started getting talk about “that new humor that the kids like”.
Also, from the thumbnail shots on Netflix, is Jonah that prone to the same case of Captain Janeway disease that so often struck Mike during S6-7?

Well, my name was kinda left out of the contributors section in Jerry Beck’s “The 100 Greatest Looney Tunes Cartoons” book (or at least my last name was left off), so don’t feel too bad.

It’s a simple and fair question for the official fan site. Or, in MSTie-speak, “Ohhh, is the great ‘A Jerk’ going to give us a morality lesson?” :-)
Anyway, I finally got to watch the first episode and I loved it! I get what everyone was talking about the “too many riffs,” which seemed to happen whenever there was no dialogue and they wanted to fill space. I’d be okay if that calmed down in later episodes, but otherwise the mads, host segments, and new doorway sequence were all spot on.
