Weekend Discussion Thread: Favorite Costume Worn by a Bot

Mr. B(ob) suggests:

Favorite costume worn by one of the robot pals in an episode. My favorite costume on a robot is the monkey mask Tom Servo is wearing during the Sandy Frank song. It makes me laugh every time I see it, every single time!?

Oh, no contest: Tom Servo as the candy striper. (Honorable mention: Crow as Willie the Waffle.)

What’s your pick?

Trumpy! You barely see the detail in the pandemonium, but the look and use of those costumes puts me into hysterics.

  2. A lot of (misguided?) love for Crow as Jack Elam. Here’s the clip, at the 8 minute mark:

    Meh.

In addition to so many above-cited examples (Crow as Bellerian and Solarite, Tom as cheerleader-MRXL!) IIRC Crow sported a leather jacket in Girl in Gold Boots, pouring beer all over poor Mike’s beer stein. Both were sufficiently cult-like when they wore those Final Sacrifice costumes at the end of that episode.

I’m throwing in my vote for Crow as Jack Elam. The coat and the Elam inspired eyes had me laughing my @$$ off. To live as the E-lam. Isn’t that all we can aspire to be.

Tom as the farmer in the Amazing Transparent Man is tops with me for Tom. Him and Mike play off so well against each other.
“You got matches for Mikey?” And then Servo going completely off on him.

Mike does not blink in that segment, not once.

Crow as Jerry Garcia in the Cosmic Freight Train sketch/song (The Dead Talk Back). That was one LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG solo, and a very bouncy and bushy beard, indeed.

Tom Servo as cheerleader. MRxL!!!! Are you rea-dy for some spir-it!?!? (The Giant Spider Invasion)

Gypsy, with a real leg (Future War). I know this doesn’t really count as a costume. It just seems weird, Gypsy having a real leg.

Crow and Tom Servo as The Reddenbickering popcorn moguls as seen in Godzilla VS. Megalon. It comes from out of nowhere, has nothing to do with the movie and makes me laugh every time. I’m actually quite surprised I’m the first to mention it; It’s one of my favorite host Segments.

    #111,
I was actually going to mention it.
I’ll always have a soft spot in my head for that
one, it’s the first thing I ever saw by them and have been
watching ever since. Just flipping through the channels and
caught the beginning of the sketch and that was it.
“When are you going to die, you twisted old ferret?”
    Memories.

Another great thread, where EVERYONE says all the great ones I forgot to think about. Starting right at the top, my very first thought was Crow as the Bear in “Jack Frost.”

But Crow as Jack Elam in “Girl from Lover’s Lane” was priceless.

Tom looks good in almost anything. And it’s so freeing!

I have a bunch of favorites, but the most noteable one is the favorite that I find creepy that I like: Crow in his gold boots. It’s creepy cause I always wondered how he looked in that gold bikini…
