Most memorable and/or painful deaths in an MST Movie. This popped in my head after seeing Wilson getting shot with a flare gun. Examples: the guy who gets impaled with a giant hypodermic needle in “The Amazing Colossal Man,” Hubbs getting eaten by thousands of ants in “Phase IV” and the residents of Fly Creek becoming worm food in “Squirm.”
I’d pick the extended death of the evil researcher guy in “Devil Fish,” the one that prompted Crow to note: “Please! Francisco Franco died quicker!”
What would you pick?
Has anyone mentioned Michael Pataki’s death at the end of It Lived By Night? Quite satisfying really, watching the lecherous Sgt. Ward (justifiably) freaking out as bats smash themselves against the windshield trying to get at him!

Er, I mean

A fake death for sure, but Diabolik at the end (of the movie and the series) “died” in a shower of molten gold. Even though he winked straight into the camera, that HAD to sting a little bit.

I would go with the ants eating that guy in Phase IV

The guy who got shot with a flare gun in Final Justice was gruesome but very funny. Also Dan Kessler getting eaten by the spider in Giant Spider Invasion.

With so many good ones, I can belive some people would forget Vi’s death in Tormented.
TOM STEWART KILLED ME!

Phase4… wait– there were no ants in Space Mutiny!
I’m looking forward to the Space Mutiny sequel, too. I wish it was a weekly series!!!

Okay, I give up.. what mediocre but overly-loved Sci-Fi episode was that from, hmmm???

The deputy being disemboweled by grandma cutie-pie in Touch Of Satan was pretty nasty by mistie standards, and the 50 or so people munched by the creatures whose mouths were already filled with breadsticks in Horror Of Party Beach was also interesting. How many people had to die before the town actually did anything and how exactly were the creatures killing them when their pie holes were already full?
Thank goodness Ted Nelson’s in-law’s stringy, ancient innards getting munched happened off screen, I’d hate to have to avoid lemon groves out of fear of vomiting for the rest of my life.

Carrie Anders death (off-screen) by the Jesse in “The Girl In Lover’s Lane”. Joel offered that we didn’t have to accept the movie’s ending.

If you can tear yourself away from your hatred of the Sci-Fi era, then you would realize that he’s talking about The Beast of Yucca Flats.

Betty’s dog and girlfriend turned into a skeleton in Teenagers from Outer Space. All the flesh and muscle were just burned clean off.

A related question, noting Sampo’s pick of Devil Fish and The Brain
That Wouldn’t Die being mentioned, who had the lonnnnnnngest
death scene?

ck#114 – Technically, wouldn’t it either be the guy from Crawling Hand or the Incredible Melting Man?

And while he didn’t die yet (Pearl wasn’t around) there was the
dying/not dying/dying etc. of Dr. F. in Red Zone Cuba.
I imagine aggravating to TV’s Frank, since they probably
had to send back the gifts and cards, and really disappoint
Mother Teresa and President Clinton.
You see, people do care.

I would have to say the most memorable or painful death from the movies would be the guy who was “accidentally” shot out of the spaceship on PHANTOM PLANET

The Brain That Wouldn’t Die’s decapitated honey. Melting Man was pretty oozy, plus he eats a nurse’s face. Come to think of it, MST3K is laden with so much ultra-violence we all might require years of therapy, or a bowl of chips and dip might get us over the hump.

@118 – Please don’t talk about the Incredible Melting Man and dip in the same post. Urp!

Another SPACE MUTINY one!
After the staff meeting when one of the participants threatens to reveal the Kalgon plot he is pummeled (gently) then finished off with the
walking stick. “Death by snickersnag!” “Lets rip his band uniform so he has to buy another.”

I’d have to go with the “woman from the waist-down” Sheriff’s deputy who gets scythed by “Granny” Lucinda while trying to get into his car in “Touch of Satan”. She can’t be that strong, so it had to have been a very sloppy, jagged cut. Poor guy.

#114, Considering he was killed in 1954 by the Oxygen Destroyer, whether you figure the six hours of MSTied movies or the 22 years when G vs M was made in 1976, I think Godzilla has the longest death scene.

All of the best ones have been mentioned, but I have a soft spot for Jack Palance’s death in “Angel’s Revenge” – he gets mauled to death by a Doberman, and our heroines react like they just heard some birds fighting in a tree. Painful, stupid, leaving it all to the imagination, and getting a sociopathic reaction out of our good guys.

Hercules and the Captive Women had a lot of death. There was the sacrificed girls who were absorbed into the rock, the mutants who were slaughtered by the Abe Lincoln photo negatives, the evil queen who had her Idol fall on her as she made her desperate prayer, and all of Atlantis. The day dedicated to Uranus was pretty tough all around.
Besides Metalluna from The Movie were any other civilizations wiped out in a MSTie movie?

Movie related, you mean other then the numerous planets
Mike Nelson had a (usually inadvertent) hand in destroying.

Re #125,
Speaking of sacrifices, the women and one man sacrificed to the giant growling snakes in Cave Dwellers had a rather grisly death.

@ 125- Here are some gueses;
-Solarites in Phantom Planet
-Fire Maidens since the old man died?
-Skinny Guy Isle Colosses…, the group at the beginning
-The Aztecs in Aztec Mummy vs Human Robot
-Atlantis in countless chessy movies
-The Bronx for corn’s sake!
-Fingalized Future

“The Bronx for corn’s sake!”

To be fair, the residents were repeatedly
advised to “LEAVE THE BRONX!”
(Perhaps to move to North Jersey- I
understand the Corleone Estate was available).

I’ll have to go with Jim Backus’ career when he falls into the manure in Angel’s Revenge.

You’re deep, Elvis.
I’d also nominate the sheriff’s deputy from Touch of Satan. Not only is it a bad way to go, but he also had to be a pretty big wuss to let a withered old devil clam like Lucinda overpower and kill him in the first place. Kinda like getting to the afterlife and having to explain to St. Peter that you were trampled to death by hamsters.

Zigra’s death in “Gamera vs. Zigra”, if just because he was played like a xylaphone after he was dead.

It’s been mentioned, but the old man in Red Zone Cuba. Yes, it’s an old man getting thrown down a well, and that’s not really nice, but at that point in the film, I can’t ever stop laughing. “I sensed there was mail.” is one of my favorite MST lines.

The aforementioned hypodermic death from Amazing Collosal Man is definitely up there, just in terms of goofiness. Also, just as an afterthought, what the hell happened to the witch at the end of The Day The Earth Froze?? Did she turn herself into stone to better barricade the door, only to be shattered along with it?? The hell?

Well, (I’m late again, I know), I scanned through ALL the entries, and someone mentioned the giant leeches sucking the southern-fried people dry (I saw that movie when I was about 12, in the early ’70s, and for back then that footage was fairly graphic, and really frightened me at the time- I have a phobia about leeches), but I don’t think I saw a mention for the victims of the Crawling Eyes- getting your head pulled/squeezed off seems like a really awful way to go.
Otherwise, I think y’all covered it pretty good!

What about the Professor who fell down the mountain in “Lost Continent.” You know, after all of that ROCK CLIMBING!
SERVO: What are they waiting for?
CROW: The impact.
I’m sure it must have been painful all the way down, but it sure was quicker than the way up.
