Statement from Shout! Factory about Vol. XXXIII

We at Shout! Factory know MSTies were looking forward to the titles for Volume XXXIII today, but unfortunately we cannot announce them at this time. We know the fans are just as excited for the next volume as we are, and the moment we can share the titles, we will. We appreciate your understanding.

Stay tuned, folks.

So, from the sounds of things, we may be getting a Corman film, whether it’s one he just directed or one he actually owns the rights to (Deathstalker or Being from Another Planet). Either way, assuming one of the episodes is a Corman film, I look forward to it.

Every day for the last several days, I come here to check for the announcement, then dejectedly walk back to the liquor cabinet.

    Dear Shout Factory:

If these merely hinted at hints that are being suggested in the above suggestions are of any indication to future plans with MST sets whatsoever, please be informed that I will gladly plunk down the necessary silver and gold to purchase a Corman/MST set that consists of just the Corman related productions that MST did.

I have no problem with that.

I do ask for a Roger Corman action figure to be included in the set though.

Fyi, if they’re interviewing Corman, it’s for films he directed, not films he owns.
The Arkoff Estate needs a distributor after their deal with Lionsgate ran out. A few of the films owned by Arkoff were directed by Corman.

The Ballyhoo guy basically said in another Facebook post he’s working on a documentary about AIP, of which Arkoff owns most of and Corman directed many.

Conclusion: Shout! is very close to securing the AIP films that Arkoff owns, which are:

    307-Daddy-O
    313-Earth vs. The Spider
    315-Teenage Caveman
317-Viking Women and the Sea Serpent
    319-War of the Colossal Beast
    806-The Undead
    808-The She Creature

This may be way too much to hope for but the two Godzilla films!
Now that would be really big!

Slicer87: I think the concern is that with RT making so many riffs that they are spreading themselves thin and reducing their quality.

Do you think they were spreading themselves thin and reducing their quality when they riffed 24 movies a year for four years straight? How many should they riff every year before they start to cross that line?

I don’t want to speak anything too soon, but Dave Long, the great architect of Shout! Factory’s mst3k dvd menus has dropped a wonderful “hint” on the facebook Mystery Science Theater 3000 page (not the “MST3K” page, which has almost as many likes)…if you feel so inclined, go to the currently most recent posting (about the new Hercules menu) and scroll to the bottom of the comments. Dave bequeaths his hint to one Thomas Loftus, and many thanks to you, Mr. Long, one of the great ones, for doing so. I think we can safely began preparing mentally and emotionally for the return of one Bert…I….Gargantuan……

    Hiitch: KTMA
Let’s hope they’re trying to secure the rights to a KTMA episode. Superdome would be a great choice.

I’d rather see SST: Death Flight. But I guarantee that if they can “find” and get rights to the two Supermarionation episodes, Invaders from the Deep (K01) and Revenge of the Mysterons from Mars (K02), there’d be a stampede to buy them, if only for the curiosity value of shows that have never been seen by the vast majority of MSTies. (Are you listening, Shout Factory?)
