We had the announcement that the new Doctor from Doctor Who is going to be a woman. There was the all-female “Ghostbusters” and now we have “Oceans Eight.”
I thought: what MSTed movies would be improved with women in previously male roles (and who would star)? I wonder what Mitchell would have been like with a woman as the star (maybe Tyne Daly)? What do you all think?
How about remake of “Lost Continent”? It would certainly give rock climbing a different feel. How about Lucy Davis in the Sid Melton role?
What’s your pick?
“The Brain That Wouldn’t Die!
Something about seeing Dan in the Pan as his obsessed fiance Dr. Jill Cortner goes to sleazy strip clubs and fashion shows to pick out the perfect replacement body that would definitely be a different take!”
I flashed on two Chris-Farley-esque Chippendale rejects rolling on the floor, fighting over Dr. Jill Cortner, and snorted Kirkland House Blend coffee all over my keyboard. Thanks a HEAP.

This is a joke, right? The only woman you can think of who is a “better” comedian than the three hosts is 85 years old?
I’m not saying Carol Burnett isn’t a comedic legend, but there are plenty of very funny, sharp women in comedy in Joel’s preferred mid-thirties age range. Two of them are already on the show. How about Cameron Esposito? Jena Friedman? Jessica Williams? Emily Heller? Mindy Kaling? Jen Kirkman? Aparna Nancherla? Kristen Schaal?
Back to the point of the thread, I’ve always wondered watching those adventure in space movies what would happen if the crew had a token male instead of a token female.

Maybe Endo Reticulum is himself 85 years old and doesn’t get out much…

Let’s see any of them play Nora Desmond or Miss Wiggins…Yeah, Tina Fey in the Gone With the Wind curtain-dress, there’s comedy gold right there.
(Mary Jo was right: Female comedy’s gotten itself a bad name since the standup 90’s.)

I never thought of that before, but, how about Michelle Wolf? Considering what a force she’s become, I think she might make an excellent host. I don’t think Samantha Bee would be a good fit, though, but it might be interesting.

I’m pretty sure people past a certain age cannot hear the high-pitch frequency of her voice.
I’m also pretty sure that’s a blessing.

Having Legend of Boggy Creek with a female professor and a female and 2 male students wouldn’t make much difference. Well, aside from constantly shirtless Tim(Tammy?)…
Jonah pointed out in Wizards of the Lost Kingdom II how much creepier it would be for a adult man to try to seduce young teen girl Tyor.

Hm? Oh yes, quite so – sorry, busy today. Thanks for the heads-up Lisa H. And GareChicago is a him. :)
Ahem….
JediPeaceFrog, get out of here with this misogynistic, political horse crap. Was the movie in question bad? Sure. Are we all a bunch of sexist pigs because we didn’t like it? Y’know, maybe to some people of that ilk, who see conspiracy in everything (oh.. this includes you I s’pose), but not to level-headed, normal people.
Nobody cares about your political bent – go to Reddit and vent there.

I thought that might be the case, but wasn’t sure, so I erred on the side of caution. (I know several people who specifically prefer “them” and run into it a lot over on Tumblr, so I may possibly default to it more than the average person.)

I would watch that.

Switching the genders around in EEGAH would certainly be …. um ….

Maybe what “The Violent Years” really needed was a boy toy for the gang to talk down to.

Wouldn’t improving one of the MSTied movies actually defeat the whole purpose?

Speaking of turning around (the roles) since this is comment number 70 now we will have to turn around and go the other way.
