Ha! This was actually a fairly decent episode. Hmm, you know, that little “Cleveland Servo” unit doesn’t look like it’d be hard to build… (takes screen grab for later reference :nerd: ).

This was a good episode. Not only did have an MST3K reference, it also took numerous shots at SDCC, aka Hell on Earth.

I’m not sure I could get through more than a few seconds of any Family Guy related show even for MST3K, but thanks to the running time suggestion of where to find the reference I may give it a try.

Sooooooooo the MST reference is the fat kid’s jumpsuit and the Servo on his shoulder, right? There’s nothing else, is there? I’m not watching The Cleveland Show, even for an MST reference. Logo Lu at #4 up there pretty much nailed it.

Cleveland Show is bad by even Seth MacFarlane standards, but I still appreciated the reference. For the 30 seconds I gave the video.

  12. Yeah. Even an MST3K reference won’t get me to watch a Seth McFarlane show. I just wonder how bad hes going to louse up his ‘Flintstones’ reboot.

American Dad is good. But Family Guy has sucked lately and the Cleveland Show isnt my thing. You guys will watch a terrible movie and think nothing of it, but have nothing pleasant to say about a show that isnt hurting anyone. You dont like it fine, but I dont really care much for MST3K now that I know most of it’s fans or a bunch on homophobes who say nasty things to make themselves feel better. Enjoy you loser show.

I was so focused on “Servo” that I didn’t even notice Cleveland Jr. was wearing a Gizmonics jumpsuit. Wow, I’m observant.

Weighing in- I love Family Guy and American Dad. The first two seasons of The Cleveland Show sucked but I’m grudgingly starting to like it a little bit now. You can blame that on David Lynch.

The Cleveland show is better than Family Guy. That’s not saying a whole lot. I did enjoy the nerd uprising scene.

Does this really need to turn into a forum for Seth-bashing? Aren’t there plenty of forums on the internet dedicated to that? Come on all, like him or not, let’s try to keep conversation somewhat civil and centered on MST3K (something we all can agree is amazing).

    @ “American Dad is good.”

There are four words I never expected to see in a sentence together. That show is unwatchable.

Bob’s Burgers is hilarious! Far and away the best Fox Sunday show.

Bobs Burgers and the Cleveland show are not that good. American Dad is really good and Family Guy hasn’t been good in ages. I guess people like to bash and smash things that they cant understand. If you dont like something fine, but to stoop to the level of saying how much someone or something sucks show a lack of IQ.

I like Seth MacFarlane. I like his shows. They are edgy, mean-spirited and funny. I am guaranteed at least 10 good laughs per episode and they are free! And the DVD’s are inexpensive. A word that Jim Mallon does not understand.

I was probably the first to email Sampo and Erhardt about this ( I sent the email 12:50pm 5/16 ). Why are people here upset about the reference? I think its cool that Seth McFarlane drops a MST3K reference on one of his shows. I THINK ITS A COMPLEMENT!!!!! The Comic Con shows ( except for MST3K ) stink anyway! The Cleveland Show is ok at best ( American Dad is a little funnier ) not as funny as Family Guy which is the funniest cartoon on the air right now ( funnier than South Park and the Simpsons ).

To : Zeke Miles & Logo Lou, “Family Guy has not been funny in ages???” Are you kidding me!!! Family Guy for the last 6 years gets better and better. Wow, get your head checked.

While I dispise The Cleveland Show and what they did to the characters of Cleveland and Junior, I will admit that was a nice little thing for the MSTies out there. It’s like when Family Guy (which has been pretty ‘meh’ since it got cancelled for the second time) or American Dad (which I didn’t like at first, but it got a lot better after it got off it’s BUSH ADMINISTRATION LOLOLOLOL high horse) makes a Dr. Who reference.

I think the FOX lineup has more than run it’s course. The Simpsons hasn’t mattered for years, I still like Family Guy, Cleveland show and Bob’s Burgers are unwatchable to me. American Dad is in the middle, nothing special but not horrible. But to each their own. We all know comedy is in the eye of the beholder. I still have people ask me if I really like mst3k when I wear my mst shirts and I say hell ya! But many don’t like it at all but that’s okay. I don’t need the agreement of the masses to justify my tastes. Good gravy, check out imdb meassage boards sometimes. Reminds me of a bunch of people who desperately need everyone to like what they like or the verbal daggers fly, big time. It’s quite sad.

Bob’s Burgers is pretty good, H. Jon Benjamin has done great voiceover comedy work for years and the actress who is his kid Louise steals the show every week.

Wouldn’t watch a Seth MacFarlane show to save my life. Nasty, insulting, unfunny garbage just starts to describe it.

  30. Jose chung says:

Alot of Seth Macfarland Shows are “Edgey” for the sake of being Edgey. A show can be groundbreaking but cares if the show isn’t funny. I’d Rather watch something Funny that isn’t Ground Breaking than some show that “pushes the Envelope.” When I tell people I don’t like Family Guy they say “You just Hate the show because it makes a valid point.”
Number 1: It’s not Funny and as it sould be that’s the ultimate criteria for whether a Comedy show is Good or Bad.
Number 2: No the show doesn’t make a valid point, in fact it often ignores the real issue that they claim they’re tackling.
And Cleveland Show was just a bad idea from the get go.

Oh and #13 Norma Jones Who are you to insult us and refer to us by derogatory terms for enjoying a show?

This might not be a Tom Servo reference. The robot on his shoulder also resembles “Robot” from Lost in Space a little bit. Either way this show isn’t funny.

Okay, I watched the clip. Nice MST3K reference. No laughs in the clip though, Family Guy is stiflingly unfunny to me. And I’ve given it multiple chances over the years because I normally like fun, adult-humor animation. I like Futurama, The Simpsons (the first 10 years), and even many Adult Swim shows on Cartoon Network like Venture Bros and Sealab 2021, Harvey Birdman, etc., but for all the times I tried watching Family Guy I don’t think I ever got more than a laugh or two out of an episode. It just isn’t funny.

I don’t have anything to say about the article’s content. I would just like to let all of you know that I am an expert on what is funny and unfunny. A show you like? Painfully unfunny. A show you dislike? Hilarious.

I like all 5 of the Fox Sunday Night Cartoons, they’re the only currently-produced American shows I watch regularly (I’m way more into British television).

In the previous episode of THE CLEVELAND SHOW they gave Kendra Krinklesac a make-over and she ended up looking like Pearl Forrester: http://twitpic.com/4vnb8d
I thought it was a coincidence but after Jr as Joel I’m not so sure…

Mst3k is such a great show. Seth MacFarland’s shows lack in both charm or intelligence. I stopped watching when they became both politically bent Left, and especially mean-spirited toward people with intellectual disabilities. Mst3k has always shown more class and dignity. Plus it’s just plain hilarious!

Watched the clip. I really get annoyed when someone makes the analogy that Firefly was about a whole cast of Han Solos. That’s the sign that someone never really watched that show. Not ALL the main characters were like Han Solo. River for example.

It’s just a shout out that MST3K is a great show. Like the ref in Futurama’s “Raging Bender”. Just say, as the Mads would say, “Thank You!!”

and H. Jon Benjamin is at his best in “Archer”, funnier than most Fox animations combined…

Now, back to “Godzilla vs The Sea Monster”…

Someone told me about an aborted cutaway gag in FG where Peter says something to the effect of “Just like the time I participated in that experiment”, which leads to Peter doing feeble and unfunny riffs on an old film between two robots.

Kinda wish it had made it in. Would’ve been an excellent little tribute.

#13-A bunch of homophobes? I’m enough of a fan that I own all the official MST3K dvds and I endorse gay marriage. Not just a civil union, an actual marriage license for gay couples in any state. It doesn’t affect my life at all but fairness matters.
Anyway, I don’t understand all the Seth-bashing, I’ll be the first to say that for all 3 shows quality varies from episode to episode and isn’t consistent. I don’t take them too seriously, that’s why I enjoy them for the most part. At least Cleveland Jr. knows a good satellite jumpsuit when he sees one.

I had never watched any Cleveland Show episodes, but after the reference at 7:25, I watched the rest of the show. I enjoyed it quite a bit, but mostly because ComiCon is something that is rife for riffing. This clip won’t make me watch any more episodes mind you, but I like what I saw.

While they got the flavor of Comic-con right, I have NEVER seen it with so few people.
Even on Thursday mornings it is wall to wall people.
On Saturday I don’t leave Hall 20 and would NEVER try to get tot he dealer room.

The rest they got right, particularly the way Hollywood has taken it over to promote every PO# show they have.

#13-What the Sam Hill are you talking about!? I see no homophobic comments here! There is absolutely no cause for the things you said. Actually, considering what you said, you’ll probably never be here again, and so you’ll never read this, and so this is pretty pointless, me talking to you, isn’t it?
