Weekend Discussion Thread: Favorite Costume Worn by a Bot

Mr. B(ob) suggests:

Favorite costume worn by one of the robot pals in an episode. My favorite costume on a robot is the monkey mask Tom Servo is wearing during the Sandy Frank song. It makes me laugh every time I see it, every single time!?

Oh, no contest: Tom Servo as the candy striper. (Honorable mention: Crow as Willie the Waffle.)

What’s your pick?

My pick has to be Servo leading his choir in The Starfighters. The singing Servo duplicates were also dressed sharply for being just prop bodies.

If it counts I’d like to vote for Crow whenever he is dressed well. His ‘slicked back’ net is cute every time I see it.

Crow as a Bellerian in Space Mutiny. He really wore the gauzy robe well…and I still maintain he looks great as a blonde.

Either Tom afflicted with Short Man Syndrome & decked out in leather and lifts, Tom as the Ren-Faire quartet, or Tom as a super-frilly Southern Belle. Tom in a ridiculous costume can just warm my heart.

For Tom it would be the Sir Charles Nevel Servo Just After The Plague Singers (I think that’s the name), especially the female Servo LMAO.
For Crow his Great Vorellie act at the end of Devil Doll had me rolling, “Not only can you not have Ham, you can’t have other Luncheon Meats!” :rotfl:

I love Tom’s costume as the “adowable” girl from “Jack Frost”, but it’s more because of Mike and Crow’s input then the costume itself.

Very good topic. I’ve always been a fan of their hair pieces that allow them to fantasize about being other characters. For example, the hockey hair from “The Final Sacrifice” is just enough to make me giggle each time I see it.

Although we only see Crow from the thigh down in The Girl in the Gold boots dance scene is my favorite costume. It just cracks me up to see crow in his/her little gold boots shaking his/her money maker! Crow totally channels his fembot side to hilarity. Shake it baby!

Then as the mustachioed bots in “It Lives by Night.” Especially Tom’s over the top mustache.

  42. Crow: “I’m an imp!” & screaming skull. (I like when he has teeth)
Servo: his new trucker body from Riding With Death. “I like my butt!”

  43. Stickboy says:

I’m with Crow the servo (#8). I like it when they alter the bots, as if they had actual hair or working pupils. I always love seeing crow with his net slicked back or his eyes widened or reddened; Tom with is dome affected in some way, trimmed or full of cotton balls to show an altered state. They’re chunks of plastic, but the crew found inventive ways to show and vary the bots’ expressions.

    Some of my favorites:
Willy The Waffle “NO WAFFLES! (Whistles)”
    The United Servo’s Men Chorus
Crow’s little jester outfit in Monster A Go Go
    The bots in the Gameraramdung
Tom Servo’s nurse outfit if only for Crow’s reaction to it.

I’m with dropo – Crow as Jack Elam. The first time I saw that sketch, I almost puked, I laughed so hard. I also love Tom’s smoking jacket and british accent during the “Servo on Cinema” segment in “Giant Gila Monster”.

  49. Son of Bobo says:

So hard to choose, but off the top of my head, here goes.
Servo: He was so easy to dress-up and Kevin always had the voice to bring out a personality to match. I’m going to go with Tom as a priest. I love his stole.
Crow: His slacks from J. C. Penney’s, especially when his “hair” was slicked back. I would love to have seen the corrective shoes.
Gypsy: A bit more difficult, though I did like her compact, but I’ll go with the Nativity scene in one of the shows best moments.

I’s say any of the several where they are part of a rock band.
Among others, with Mike doing “Sodium.” (Now, that’s a 50s sound). :-D
