I loved Jim Mallon as the Bowler Hat guy in THE DEADLY BEES.
One stands way out above the others: Mike Nelson as J.C. and Frank Conniff as Gooch (or Cooch) in the Sidehackers episode. “I will! I will! I will do it! I will! I will!”
Mike Nelson is particulary good at these one-shot roles. The Robert DeNiro chracter from “This Boys’ Life” (Code Name : Diamond Head), Brad Roberts from the Crash Test Dummies (ibid.), Jeff Smith, the Frugal Gourmet (ibid.), Adam Duritz of Counting Crows (I was a Teenage Werewolf), The Gesture Professor (The Mole People), Mikey (Teenage Strangler), Mikey (The Amazing Transparent Man), Mike-o the Puppet (Devil Doll) and many, many, many others.
I also like Mike and Paul as the Holoclowns, and Mary Jo and Bridget as the Amazons.
I also liked Mike and Kevin as the Irish cops in I think “Indestructable Man”?

I say it counts because they are essentially different characters with different personalities.
I always got a kick out of Trace’s dead-on valley girl talk from Cave Dwellers.

I also enjoyed Paul as the Mad Scientist Board Certifier or whatever he was. He was just too dang funny! The little *sniffs* when he talked and the limp. I liked how when Pearl is bashing Brain Guy with the film reel she kind of pauses and looks at him and he’s nodding approvingly. Like “Yes, this is truly mad!” I love it.

Maybe it’s just TISCWSLATBMUZ being my favorite SciFi episode, but I also have to say Paul as Ortega. He nicely translated the enigmatic nature of the film’s brightest star into the world outside the theater.
Ditto for Jim as the guy at the end of 905.
Other favorites are all the guests frantically rotated in and out in the middle segments of 805 and 806: Finnegan, Hadrian, Adrienne Barbeau, and the metamorph witch (Paul, Kevin, and then Bridget twice, I believe). I’ve still never seen ‘Star Trek: Generations’, so I don’t know if something’s lacking in Paul’s performance, but they each crammed a lot into their manically-paced part.
Also, does the sleazy voice-over who tries to seduce Magic Voice in ‘The Atomic Brain’ count as a guest star? He seemed to show up of his own volition, unlike other instances where parts of the movie were replayed by the ‘bots (ex: Godzilla vs. Megalon, MANOS, Riding With Death, and Track of the Moon Beast). If so, he might actually be my favorite of all time, because he was an instance of the movie literally interacting with the SOL.
I’ve mostly seen only the CC eps released by Rhino, so I’ve missed a lot of Mike’s best performances. That’s why my list seems so SciFi biased.
The “late” Humphrey the dog? When did he die?
How about all the times Mike was Jack Perkins on the MST Hour? Those appearances are nearly forgotten it seems.

I think maybe you meant the Classic Trek episode Shore Leave, as that was the one that had Finnegan (at least I don’t recall him being in Generations). Finnegan also made an appearance in the Star Trek comic book series published by DC back in the Eighties.
One of my favorites was Paul (I think) as the snooty Observer who goes up to the SoL and does a running commentary on everyone until they decide to beat him up.
Peanut was also a funny role, especially what happens to him after Ape World is blown up.
Bridget is, of course, great wherever she appears.
Brandon: In a Rifftrax blog thread about his current dog, Kevin said Humphrey has indeed, eh, gone to live on a farm. Not sure how long ago. Humphrey was, I always felt, one of the most obscure MST3K trivia questions ever.
There’s no comparison between the one-shot characters Mike played and all the others – some of the other Brains could do the one-shot characters well (especially Bridget), but Mike was the King. The show really lost that value he brought as a pinch-hitter when he moved over to host.
Sampo, you covered 11 out of 12 spots I was planning putting on this list! :mad: I would exclude Mary Jo’s Jan in the Pan appearances and replace them with Mike’s Glen Manning appearances (shows 309 & 319). Nothing against Mary Jo, mind you, I just thought Mike planning a giant-sized Manning was alittle funnier. How can you resist laughing at a guy chomping on an entire cow?

I try to get stuff like the Byrds or Nilsson only on vinyl because it’s cheaper and cooler. But sometimes I can’t find a decent copy of random albums like Sweetheart of the Rodeo easily. My old roommate had Sweetheart of the Rodeo, I don’t have anything against it, I just don’t have it. (Yet.)

Thanks for the gentle correction, Sitting Duck. Not sure where I got the idea that it was from Generations, but most of my Trek knowledge is second-hand. Nothing against Star Trek, but as a Transfan I needs me space epics a tad more misanthropic, with humans realizing that in the cosmic scheme of things, we’re just a bunch of dumb bugs who’re lucky we haven’t already been skooshed by beings that have no interest in any alliances with us.
