Most memorable and/or painful deaths in an MST Movie. This popped in my head after seeing Wilson getting shot with a flare gun. Examples: the guy who gets impaled with a giant hypodermic needle in “The Amazing Colossal Man,” Hubbs getting eaten by thousands of ants in “Phase IV” and the residents of Fly Creek becoming worm food in “Squirm.”
I’d pick the extended death of the evil researcher guy in “Devil Fish,” the one that prompted Crow to note: “Please! Francisco Franco died quicker!”
What would you pick?
The entire movie was “The Incredible Melting’s Man”‘s death, and it was moist to boot.
But Kalgan dying in the exploding golf kart after Big McLargehuge yelled was THE MOST MEMORABLE EVER!

I’m going with the lab assistant in “The Brain that Wouldn’t Die”. He took his sweet time to die, as well as stagger into walls with his fresh new bloody stump where his arm used to hang.

I’d say Torgo’s death in Manos, due to its sheer bizarreness.

Anyone that got eaten by the Creeping Terror. A slow digestive death by a walking carpet.

Crazy–I JUST watched THE AMAZING COLOSSAL MAN last night, and thought to myself, “man, that must have hurt!” after Glenn hurled the huge needle. Seriously!
I often think of the Professor, however, in THE CREEPING TERROR, when he basically gets blown to shreds (and which compels Mike to sing a few bars of Al Jolson).

I immediately thought of Joel’s epitaph for the ever irritated, grumbling stepdad of the kid in Pod People. “He died as he lived.; with his mouth wide open”.
How about those guys who were defenestrated in Pumaman. Who will be next? Call our 900 number and vote!
The firing squad victims in Red Zone Cuba. “They actually made it a challenging shot”. A lot of memorable deaths in Red Zone Cuba, come to think of it.

Ro-Man takes quite a while to die while being blasted by his fearless leader and there’s lots of inexplicable stock footage padding out his death. It’s a short movie so his death may be about 10% of the total running time of the film.

Wow, lotsa choices. Soultaker is another one where the entire movie is the painfully protracted death of the main character(s). Well, almost, anyway. Touch of Satan had Melissa torching Lucinda—the hard-to-look-at character getting an unpleasant-to-watch kind of death. Cave Dwellers had whatever extra getting his heart ripped out and eaten.
Hell with it, I may just have to go back and nominate one for each season.

Hmm… that’s hard to say.
I guess one of Bealu’s henchmen getting shot with an arrow in “Bloodlust!”.
I’d also imagine one of his other henchmen getting tossed into that boiling hot tank must have been painfull too.

The first one I thought of was that of Lt. Makkonen, the co-pilot who expounded in flowery fashion about the Good and the Beautiful in The Phantom Planet. As he floats off to die alone in the cold dark void of outer space, he calmly recites the Lord’s Prayer.

I’m going to have to go with John Saxon in Mitchell. His death was so painful that it had to occur off-screen (at least in the MST3K version. Runner-up: Merlin Olsen getting a harpoon in the belly at the end of the film.

In Future War. The old homeless guy getting his throat ripped out randomly by a miniature red t-rex. Bet he never saw that one coming.
Manos. Torgo’s bizarre “execution”.
Master Ninja 1. When the Master uses that silly-string explosive thing to rip off a car wheel, sending the car and the driver into the water. I assume the drive died. At least from shock of seeing what just happened to his car.

Well, The Incredible Melting Man’s death certainly was memorable. As Crow (I think) pointed out, how many films end with the title character being swept into a trash can?
The Creeping Terror certainly was mesmerizing. Not only were its victims paralyzed with fear and unable to run, they helped the creature by climbing into its mouth!

1. As far as Mitchell goes, I would put Martin Balsam’s death up there.
2. I would also put It’s death from “It Conquered the World,” because he learned too late that man was a feeling creature….
3. Neo killing the princess’ dad in “Robot Holocaust” was memorable, if for no other reason there would be plenty of gucamole for his wake.
4. Vi’s death from “Tormented” resonates because it sets the plot and title of the movie and she became the most…annoying…ghost..ever.

For some strange reason, the one that immediately popped into my head when I read this topic was Robby Benson’s “death by desk” scene in City Limits. Just…silly.
And while not strictly on topic, I have to give a nod to all of the creative death scenes in CT’s “Legacy of Blood.” Poisoned cookies, crushed by wine kegs, eaten by piranhas, getting repeatedly axed in the head (“Filmed in I-Wish-It-Would-Stop Animation.”) and of course, electrocuted by bedside lamp (“They died as they lived — ridiculously.”)

I’d like to mention everyone who mellted into a green goo in Agent for H.A.R.M.

Perhaps unfair because this scene was cut from the MST version, but early (15 minutes) into Devil Fish, Miller (Lou Reed guy) shows up at the apartment of Florinda (Cinthia Stewart/Cinzia de Ponti) where she, wearing only a bathrobe and panties, is preparing to leave town. He has come to stop her from spilling the beans on the “Seakiller” project going on at the lab.
Cinemorgue.com sums up her demise pretty nicely:
“Electrocuted when a hitman drops a hair-dryer into her bathtub
(after strangling her into unconsciousness). (Nudity alert: Topless)”
Of course her robe gets torn off as she attempts to get away up the stairs. While he strangles her he mutters, “Croak, croak!” He then drags her limp body to the bathroom. Conveniently, the tub is already full of water because she just got out and there is a hair-dryer and outlet ready for use. And for his final act of creepiness, after she’s dead in the tub, he unplugs the hair-dryer so he can reach into the water and rip off her panties (presumably to make her death look more like an accident). He then plugs the hair-dryer back in and walks away smugly.
Pretty memorable. Later, he beats up and kills Bailey from WKRP, the most brutal parts of which were also cut for MST.
And if the judges find that choice ineligible, I’ll go for Guiron cutting up Gaos into pieces like a sushi roll from K08/312 – Gamera Vs. Guiron, a scene both painful and hilarious.

Most painful — Dutch’s twin brother from Giant Spider Invasion, although he was spared the indignity of entering through the spider’s back end.

For me, one of the most memorable deaths has to be the strange demise of that quirky villain Troxartis from “Deathstalker,” who explodes for no apparent reason into an odd electric green puddle. Crow’s remark: “Apparently he eats jellied gasoline on toast every morning.”

My favorite MST3K death of all time is the old man getting impaled by the spikes in Hercules Against the Moon Men, so awkward and silent that they used it for the stinger!

Sartoris from “Final Sacrifice.” He didn’t so much die as much as he simply noticed he was on fire and called it a life.

Rommel’s death in Sidehackers is pretty good, the slo-mo fall into the mud-puddle, dissolving into the scene where he’s rolling down the hill with his dead girlfriend. “Only love pads the film…”

– Abe Lincoln doing a perfect dive out the hotel window in Danger Death Ray.
– Manfred’s death in The Deadly Bees is almost worthy enough to be a Gerald Ford SNL sketch.
– George accidentally killing his best friend in Last Clear Chance; it was memborable for George at least.
Least memorable was the girl getting killed in the shower in Teenage Strangler which her weenie boyfriend doesn’t even react to.
Best reaction to a death was the grateful maid in Radar Secret Service. “Thank you!!!”

For a group, I always LMAO when the Slime People would consistantly roll down hills when exposed to sunlight & die. They would grab their slimey throats and literally roll head over heels backwards and the big lump on their backs and neck made them bounce a bit and they would take off in all directions. Reminded me of adult size duck pins, if anyone remembers them.

What’s-his-name frugging to his death at the end of Track of the Moon Beast. It’s not that memorable, except for the expressions on the faces of Johnny Longbone and Pink Girl as they watch him die. It’s like they’re watching a not very interesting TV show. How about some terror, horror, disgust, anything?

Hows about Russeell Johnson as Steve Carlson in This Island Earth which was used in The Movie …
As Steve is vaporized by Exeter and/ or Brak the riffs are “I regret nothing” and and “His coffin will be made entirely of coconuts.” … prior to this the SOL crew gets at least one more joke in referencing Johnson’s tenure as The Professor on Gilligan’s Island …

#25 Hey, that reminds me. Four simple words: Why don’t they look?

One of the most memorably laughable demises? The henchman’s death by model airplane in City Limits.
Like Bat Masterson said about the old man’s death in Hercules Against the Moon Men in comment #22, it was perfect stinger material.
Another memorable one is Anita’s leisurely plunge off the mansion’s roof in The Atomic Brain. I must have laughed just as hard as the writers upon seeing that for the first time.

My thoughts exactly: Why don’t they look?

Anyone Thor kills in “Teenagers From Outer Space” with the focusing disintegrater ray. It slices, it dices it removes everything but your bones. I’ll bet that stings just a bit.

* Any of the people who helpfully climb into the monster’s mouth in “The Creeping Terror”.

My fav. all time death or lack there of. Is the chick from the bridge in “Space Mutiny” who is killed but then inexplicably back at her station a few scenes later. That’s the most memorable “death” in any MST3k movie for me.

What about the space fungus death(s) in Being From Another Planet? That didn’t seem pleasant, especially the first victim. Plus the bad guy at the end screaming at the camera in fungal pain was a classic.

Two favorites
1) LOST CONTINENT – Sid Melton gets done in by a dinosaur that apparently silently crept up on him. Well – at least he didn’t die Rock Climbing!
2) SPACE MUTINY – The geeky clerk falling to his demise clutching computer printouts. A heroic IP death!

Dr. Frank’s death in The Atomic Brain was pretty memorable. How many other mad scientists are killed by their cats? Even though Mrs. March was in control of the cat, she was still a cat.
Then there was Bealeau in Blood Lust. Killed on his own exhibit. And Leech Woman’s death. “She missed the cement pond.”
But the most memorable death was Mike Nelson’s. Girls were really digging him. They were throwing their keys onto the stage. One of them caught him on the bean and he went right down. A most excellent death. (Eddie Nelson)

**Harry Blatz getting whacked by a tire iron on the vege of his retirement.
**The various victims being sucked dry by the Giant Leeches; honroable mention to Cal for hanging himself in his jail cell.
**The various victims of Trumpy’s evil twin, Mr. Snuffleupagus. It’s not real clear how Snuffy dispatched his victims, but it had to hurt when he stapled the rhinestones to their foreheads.
**The death of Doc Lockhart’s innocence when he looked upon “the little creature.”

Re #1….
At the risk of sounding like Comic Book Guy, I must point out that Kalgan was not killed in the explosion of his mighty Cushman; cajun pan-blackened, but not killed.

Bat Masterson totally reimined me. When I first saw Hercules against the Moon Men, I was really getting into the film, trying to concetrate on what the characters were saying that when the old man died I actually gasped out loud! The scene was so quiet and the spikes came out of nowhere, I was like GEEZ! I love the Hercules films, they’re too good for MST, but then I totally dig crazy fantasy films like those and Sword and the Dragon.
Slartibartfast, maker of Fjords also is right about Mike having a excellent death, I was real proud of him.

At least that magnificent bastard Rommel got to see
a rerun of his romp with his fiancee at the end of
Sidehackers. (I imagine JC’s flashback was less pleasant,
no doubt interrupted by his psycho girlfriend’s ghost).

The bad guy from ‘Gamera Vs Baragon’. He gets caught by Baragon’s tongue and gulped down whole. It must have smelled like an olympic sized swimming pool filled with whale carcasses in Baragon’s mouth.

I vote for The Incredible Melting Man. Like someone said you usually don’t see the title character swept into a trash can, but considering the quality of a lot of the movies on MST3K more of them should have been.
