ROME — Italian actor Sergio Fantoni died here April 17. He was 89. Perhaps best known in America for his role in “Von Ryan’s Express,” he also appeared in dozens of Italian TV shows and films, and did voice work as well.

New Haven, CT — Brian Dennehy, the burly actor who started in films as a macho heavy and later in his career won plaudits for his stage work in plays by William Shakespeare, Anton Chekhov, Eugene O’Neill and Arthur Miller, died here April 16 of natural causes. He was 81.

A couple notable deaths:

* Nazzareno “Neno” Zamperla (age 82), who did stunts for the movies in episodes 408- HERCULES UNCHAINED and 502- HERCULES, died in Italy March 19. This Italian website has the news in Italian, but Google was able to haltingly translate. Thanks to Tim for the heads up.

LOS ANGELES–Actor and comedian Lyle Waggoner, perhaps best remembered as a stalwart straight man on “The Carol Burnett Show” and on TV as a co-star on TV’s “Wonder Woman” series, died March 17. He was 84.
