Trivia: SANTA CLAUS CONQUERS THE MARTIANS reportedly was
filmed in some abandoned airplane hangars near the Roosevelt Field Mall
in Long Island, New York.
In 1982, PIA ZADORA, child star of this movie, was made a laughing
stock in Hollywood when she "won" a Golden Globe for Best New
Female Star for her trashy performance in Butterfly. Rumor had it
that her rich husband, many decades her senior, bought her the nomination
and award through much publicity and possibly other methods. Hollywood cringed
again when she and her husband bought the former estate of movie legends
Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks, Sr. She promptly started gutting and
modernizing the historic home. Pia actually has a strong beautiful singing
voice, but evidence of other talents have not surfaced in her career. She
can possess a self-deprecating sense of humor as shown in roles in the movies
Hairspray and Voyage of the Rock Aliens.
