We’re not sure what to make of this, but Ben Tobin over at Dirty Red Commie claims that a familiar silhouette appeared while he was watching the Olympics on August 17 between 2pm and 3:13pm Mountain Time. The figures were static and there was no commentary. He’s posted a short video to support his claim.
Update: The video has apparently been pulled from the Vimeo site. Here’s a screen capture, more can be seen on Ben’s site.
Ben says the figures only appeared on the HD version of the broadcast. What do you think? Did it really happen? Or is he trying to make an “eat” out of “C” and “H”?
Further update: Based on responses to his post, Ben now believes that it was done by somebody at the local NBC affiliate in Helena, Mont., having fun with/testing its HD channel, which this person may have thought nobody was watching. It apparently was only seen in the Helena area.
Yet another further update: As Ben points out in our comments section, KTVH has confirmed that the silhouette did appear, supposedly due to the use of second-hand equipment being used for the first time. There’s no explanation why the silhouette was on the equipment in the first place.

Speaking of hoaxes and Bigfoot — Did anyone see or read about those two guys (one was a sheriff, I think!) who claimed to have Bigfoot in a block of ice and sold it to researchers, and when they thawed it out, it was a rubber gorilla suit!!!

Re #57. Wow, I like it. I see the surveilance / control room from The Prisoner, except with thousands of screens, and each one has a cadre made up of a party member flanked by Crane T. Robot and Tom Panda, mercilessly mocking the everyday lives of the vast chinese populace….

Ben, it’s not that we doubted you. Actually, that’s not true. We did. It appears that Elvis and Bigfoot actually DID break an Olympic record.
Wow! Who knew that MST3K was using a HI-DEF FLEXICODER back in the ’90s? (I guess it’s possible, given that the FlexiCoder came out in January 1998 — see http://www.harris.com/hpsc/view_pressrelease.asp?act=lookup&pr_id=898!). Could someone ask Brad Keely whether it might have been some of his equipment? It would be remarkable for it to surface this way! :-)
