One of my favorite cheesy movies ever and now I don’t have to make my own riffs for it. Bravo guys. Bravo.

Never heard of this film before in my life, but if it’s a Golan and Globus production, I’m there.

Love this movie. It’s absolutely fascinating. AV Club first brought it to my attention and it’s…mesmerizing. I’ve watched this movie five times and each time there’s a new level of crap they’re trying for. I mean they’re missing by a mile, sure, but it’s one of my favorite bad-movies-as-art-movie. Unique, personal, illuminating, insane, stupid, wrong-headed, well-intentioned, miserable, adorable, pathetic, hopeful, lost, and truly captivating in a way that so many great, good, or mediocre movies will never achieve.

Can’t wait to watch them burn this one.

I’ve heard about this one before and it’s been on the list for the worst movies, but never seen the whole movie. This one looks interesting and the short clip Rifftrax did was pretty funny..Here’s a review of it on the bad movies dot org website…http://www.badmovies.org/movies/apple/

I’m 30 minutes in. This has got to be the weirdest thing I’ve seen in quite awhile… It’s like Rocky Horror threw up on Grease 2.

I’ve seen some weird stuff in my day but this is one of the strangest things I’ve ever seen. Rabid Grannies (yes, it’s a real movie) made more sense than this movie. I laughed for about five minutes straight after it went off b/c the whole experience was just so odd.

Any old Usenet rec.arts.tv.mst3k.misc geezers here who still get traumatic tics at the very mention of The Apple, and NOT because of the movie?
(I realized, it’s been twelve years, I don’t even remember the guy’s name anymore, and I still keep expecting him to show up here the minute The Apple is mentioned in the same sentence with MST3K. Which, yes, makes it seem that much more like The Kind of Movie RiffTrax Would Do.)

@2 – Yeah, for all the “WTF?” mythologizing, it’s not really MSTable material, it’s more just kind of….there and strange and foreign, like most other Golan/Globus 80’s movies. Like trying to MST “Breakin’ 2:EB”, “Superman IV: the Quest For Peace” or those cheap fairytale movies, seems like it SHOULD be goofy enough, but there’s just something so dispiritingly G/G foreign-market about it, you give up.
(Most of the yuks come from the folks who think G/G made a “hit musical” up by themselves–When in fact, it has the look of some obscure pre-existing Euro or Canadian stage musical that never came over here, and which must’ve been a big hit in the country where G/G found it. The more you know.)

  13. This one will go down as a Rifftrax classic. This movie would be fun without commentary but the riffing is even better than usual.

  17. Welp, that’s a wrap. Time to follow the Golden Caddy into the sky to the Promised Land, even though there was no prior reference to any of this in the entire duration of the film. Buh-bye, now…. (roll credits)

Whoa! 1994 was really weird when viewed from 1980! I was about 15 when this movie came out, but never heard of it. I’ll be sure to pop this VOD in next time someone complains about Xanadu. At least that had Olivia!

Hey, hey, hey! BIM is on the way! Don’t say you weren’t warned!

This is one of those movies that’s already so bizarre and campy that the riffing doesn’t seem necessary. I’ve watched about half of it so far, and for the first time, I kind of just want them to be quiet so I can enjoy the cheese on its own merits.

Catherine Mary Stewart was Maggie in “The Last Starfighter”, my favorite movie of all time. She needed a better agent.

I’m with you, radioman970, I LOVE Night of the Comet. She was also on Days of our Lives for awhile in the early ’80s. I actually bought a second-hand copy of The Apple off Amazon not too long ago, just because I’d heard it was so weird. It didn’t disappoint. I can’t wait to see the Rifftrax version!

This should be fun. Never saw the movie, but it’s stink is the stuff of legends. On a side note I bought Rifftrax Presents Horror Express with Matthew J. Elliot last week and loved it (both the movie and the riff). Thanks guys for pumping out the goods… or should I say bads :P

Who knew the mark of the beast would turn out to be a reflective sticker? And if you can wear the Bim mark anywhere on yourself, how did the policeman know the landlady wasn’t wearing one just from looking at her face?

The unriffed version is available from Netflix. I was glad to discover this movie existed in objective reality and wasn’t just a fever dream I had as a child and misremembered as a movie in an fit of denial.

I actually like the Bim song a bit, though it could possibly stand a few more verses and a little less chorus. I don’t know. Except for Pink Floyd:The Wall, and Yellow Submarine I’m not a big fan of musicals. But I have a soft spot for this movie. It’s just so surreally weird. Having read the books of Genesis and Revelation makes this much more interesting, making a game of spotting the Biblical allusions. I just wish someone would make a Bible movie that tells the story of Sodom and Gomorrah and includes the scene where Lot offers his virgin daughters to the crowd of homosexual rapists who turned him down and “pressed sorely upon him”. Later his daughters got him drunk and get themselves pregnant while he’s insensate. Those pretty illustrated Bible stories for kids you find in doctor’s offices always leave that out. How boring.

I know what would make a good movie. God sending a giant flaming atomic turtle to destroy a sinful city in: Sodom and Gamera.

@27. One of my happiest days is when I found out they had put NotC on DVD. Oooooo, yeah! I put the taped one in the closet where it probably still sits! Catherine is terrific, love her attempt at a high score on that arcade machine. Just takes me back! And her little sister in that.. good times! …great radio station scenes too.

I didn’t know she was on a soap. cool!

Well, The Apple did peg the future pretty accurately. Life was nothing but show business in 1994. We died for the spotlight, we killed for “Encore!”

Think Tonya Harding vs. Nancy Kerrigan, the OJ Simpson case.
